During the month of March, the capital of the Costa del Sol reached 149,893 travelers, representing a 1.88% increase, and 312,095 overnight stays, with a growth of 7.78%. These figures, provided by the Málaga City Council, reflect a positive trend in the sector.
The international market has been a fundamental pillar in this growth, with an increase of 1.63% in travelers and 9.42% in overnight stays in March. Meanwhile, the national market also showed favorable development, with a 2.33% increase in travelers and 4.04% in overnight stays.
The average stay in hotel establishments was 2.08 days, 5.58% more than in March 2025, when it was 1.97 days. Likewise, the room occupancy rate reached 85.7%, surpassing the 79.74% recorded in the same period last year.
Among the international source markets, the United Kingdom remained at the forefront with 15,461 travelers and 44,249 overnight stays. Germany took second place, standing out for the largest increases, with 10,677 travelers (up 28%) and 24,119 overnight stays (up 36.7% compared to March 2025). Italy and the Netherlands completed the top positions in this ranking.
Other important markets included France, with 5,255 travelers, and the United States, which registered 4,812 travelers. As for long-haul markets, China maintained stable traveler figures compared to 2025, with 1,072, but increased its overnight stays by 17.64%. South Korea also showed significant growth, with 22% more travelers and 33% more overnight stays.
Domestically, travelers from Andalucía accounted for 14.82% fewer than in March 2025, while the Community of Madrid experienced a slight decrease of 2.51%. On the other hand, Catalonia and the Valencian Community recorded increases of 1.85% and 4.5% respectively in the number of travelers.
