Málaga province delves into its past with the International Archaeology Days, offering free visits to prehistoric sites, Roman ruins, castles, and museums across 13 municipalities from June 12-14.

From June 12 to 14, 2026, the province of Málaga will transform into a grand showcase of its rich history with the celebration of the International Archaeology Days. A total of 13 municipalities are participating in this initiative, which will offer the general public, families, and schoolchildren the chance to explore prehistoric caves, Roman sites, dolmens, castles, and museums through guided tours, workshops, and conferences.
Most activities require prior reservation due to limited capacity, so early registration through the channels provided by each town is recommended. The program combines educational and leisure proposals, covering everything from Paleolithic art to the Andalusian era.
Highlights include visits to the Cueva de la Pileta in Benaoján, the Cueva de Ardales and Peña de Ardales in Ardales, the Cueva de Nerja and its museum, and the Cantal cave complex in Rincón de la Victoria, including the Cueva de la Victoria, Cueva del Higuerón, and Cueva del Tesoro.
In terms of dolmens, Roman villas, and ancient cities, Antequera will feature the Roman Villa of La Estación and host a theatrical guided tour of the Antequera Dolmens Site. Estepona will offer a tour of its historic center, visiting the Castle of San Luis and the Roman tower, as well as the Corominas Dolmens. Fuengirola invites exploration of the Roman city of Suel, and Cártama will open its Archaeological Park and Museum Collection.
Historical heritage will be rediscovered in Álora with a visit to the Castle of las Torres and its museum. Teba will offer tours of the megalithic site of La Lentejuela, its Municipal Historical Museum, and the Castle of la Estrella. Vélez-Málaga will host visits to its Museum (MUVEL) and the Alcazaba.
Family and children's activities include the historical theatrical recreation ‘Sombras de Benalmádena’ in Benalmádena, the Arqueódromo children's workshop at the Customs Museum in Málaga, and a theatrical guided tour for schoolchildren at the Roman Theatre of Málaga. The provincial capital will also host conferences at the Málaga Museum, and guided tours of the Roman Theatre and the Villalón Palace site at the Thyssen Museum.
