The property owner, which previously housed a hospitality establishment and a hotel, has installed a fence to protect pedestrians from potential falling debris. This measure complements the ongoing firefighting efforts by the Fire Department at the site.
The Malaga City Council announced via the social network ‹X› that the fencing necessitates the closure of the pedestrian section of Pasillo de Guimbarda between the Puente de la Aurora and Puente de la Trinidad. Traffic on Cerrojo street will remain open. These actions are considered precautionary measures to "ensure the safety of the surrounding area."
Firefighters maintain a cooling and prevention operation at the building. Throughout Saturday, a team comprising a fire engine, an aerial ladder platform, and a water tender remains deployed to ensure the complete extinguishment of the blaze.
The fire broke out in the early hours of Monday, May 25th, around 01:26 AM. Witnesses reported flames in a hospitality venue that spread to a hotel within the same building. Emergency services conducted a preventive evacuation of over a hundred guests, with no personal injuries reported.
