The bathing season on the beaches of Malaga began on June 15 and will extend until September 15. During these months, the capital's 14 kilometers of coastline become an area for enjoyment for residents and visitors, not only for swimming but also for sports activities, meals, and celebrations.
The municipal ordinance regulating the use and enjoyment of beaches details permitted and prohibited actions, ranging from noise levels to the distance of boats. In particular, fishing, both from the shore and underwater, faces significant restrictions during this period.
Specifically, fishing will be prohibited in designated bathing areas between 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM. This prohibition extends to specific dates such as the Night of San Juan (June 23 and 24), the night of the Pregón de la Feria in August, and the day of the Virgen del Carmen procession. In areas not considered bathing zones, fishing will be allowed without time or schedule limitations.
Practicing fishing outside the authorized places, times, and schedules is considered a serious infraction. The financial penalties associated with these infractions can range from 300 to 3,000 euros. The final amount of the fine will be determined by considering factors such as the offender's recidivism, the degree of disturbance caused to the environment and other users, and the author's intent.
