In response to the continuous increase in basic commodity prices, the Lagunillas Centro Association, under the leadership of its president Curro López, has launched a solidarity effort in Málaga. This initiative focuses on the daily distribution of frozen bread and pastries, intended for retirees whose pensions are insufficient to cover their weekly needs.
“"We made the decision due to the economic crisis facing Málaga and the rise in grocery prices."
Curro López highlighted that the association already provides support to over 900 families, underscoring the scale of need in the community. The organization has been assisting the most vulnerable for 17 years, and through its Facebook page, they invite all individuals in vulnerable situations to come forward for assistance without obligation.
The association's president also noted that their aid could be even more significant with greater visibility. He emphasized the growing number of vulnerable families struggling with rent and utility payments, and made an appeal for donations of children's products, a need the association strives to meet.
To access this assistance, pensioners only need to present their pensioner's card at the association, where they can collect food daily.
