This judicial development comes almost six and a half years after the initial complaint against the club's former owners was admitted. Despite previous requests for arrest warrants, multi-million euro bails, and accusations of three alleged crimes, the legal situation has remained stalled for a considerable time.
The process has been marked by a complex investigation, which included the remote testimony of those involved in October 2022. In 2024, the Public Prosecutor's Office revealed details about the alleged illegal purchase of shares to secure a majority stake in the club, as well as the acquisition of luxury vehicles, exorbitant housing rentals, and expenses on high-end travel and hotels, all using club funds.

Last June, the judicial process accelerated with the opening of an oral trial, though still without a set date, for the former managers, three of their children, and five former club executives. The recent arrest warrant, issued by the Provincial Court, follows a previous request for a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) by the Public Prosecutor's Office in October. However, the effectiveness of these warrants is limited to the 29 Schengen area countries and those with extradition agreements with Spain, which excludes territories such as the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
