The railway company Iryo has announced a significant increase in its services between Madrid and Málaga, adding 28 new weekly services and over 12,900 additional seats. This expansion, effective until August 31, aims to meet high demand during the summer season.

The new schedule, starting July 17, raises the offering to a maximum of 14 daily frequencies on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, exceeding the previous 10 daily frequencies. This reinforcement includes four new daily services: two departures from Madrid to Málaga (at 9:50 AM and 4:18 PM) and two from Málaga to Madrid (at 1:50 PM and 7:53 PM).
The improvement in travel times is due to the restoration of double-track operation between Antequera and Los Prados, announced by Adif. This will reduce the journey duration from 2 hours and 59 minutes to 2 hours and 49 minutes starting July 17.
With this increase in frequencies and optimized travel times, iryo aims to strengthen its connectivity between Madrid and Málaga during peak tourist months, offering travelers more options and a more competitive service for their summer trips.
All updated schedules are now available for consultation through the company's usual sales channels and on its official website, www.iryo.eu.
Iryo positions itself as the first private high-speed rail operator in the Spanish market by number of frequencies. The company is majority-owned by Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, alongside Air Nostrum and Globalvia.
The company began operations in 2022 with a fleet of 20 latest-generation trains manufactured by Hitachi Rail-Grupo Alstom, representing an investment of 800 million euros. Iryo secured package B in ADIF's tender for the liberalization of rail transport in Spain, being awarded the second-highest number of frequencies after Renfe. iryo's leadership includes Carlos Bertomeu as President and Fabrizio Favara as CEO.
