According to data from the Hotel Occupancy Survey published monthly by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the capital of Málaga welcomed 149,893 hotel travelers and accumulated 312,095 overnight stays in the third month of 2026. These figures reflect a positive trend in the sector, solidifying Málaga as an attractive destination.
The international market was the main driver of this growth, with an increase of 1.63% in travelers and a notable 9.42% in overnight stays. The national market also contributed to the rise, recording an increase of 2.33% in hotel travelers and 4.04% in hotel nights.
The average length of stay for visitors was 2.08 days, representing a 5.58% increase compared to 1.97 days in March 2025. Furthermore, the room occupancy rate reached 85.7%, surpassing the 79.74% of the previous year and showing a growth of 7.47%.
Among the international source markets, the United Kingdom remained at the forefront with 15,461 travelers and 44,249 overnight stays, an increase of 1.10%. Germany stood out with the largest increases, registering 10,677 travelers (up 28%) and 24,119 overnight stays (up 36.7%). Italy ranked third with 6,849 travelers and 12,752 hotel nights, followed by the Netherlands, France, and the United States, all of whom also made significant contributions to the city's tourist flow.
