Following the confirmation of the resumption date for direct AVE service between Málaga and Madrid, which will also connect Córdoba with Málaga, the Minister of Transport has requested Andalusian authorities to urgently proceed with the opening of the thirty roads that remain closed. According to his statements, the activation of these accesses is essential for the proper functioning of the high-speed service to the Costa del Sol.
“"With all the haste they have shown, I hope they now act quickly and accordingly."
The minister emphasized that jurisdiction over these roads belongs to the Andalusian institutions. In this vein, a representative of the Government in Málaga compared the current situation with the Junta de Andalucía's management in other projects, mentioning the delay in opening the road from San Pedro Alcántara to Ronda and other regional roads still closed in the province, as well as four roads under the responsibility of the Provincial Council.
From Thursday, April 30, the capitals of Málaga and Córdoba will once again be directly connected by high-speed train, eliminating the need for bus transfers at the Antequera-Santa Ana station. Although the resumption date remains firm, the minister has acknowledged that there is still pending work on the railway infrastructure.
The service will initially operate with one of the two available tracks, although normal service provision will be guaranteed. For this reason, no specific date has been set for the full opening of the route, including the second track, pending the completion of necessary technical actions for the optimal operation of the entire railway infrastructure on this important connection.
