This measure comes in response to concerns raised by the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, who on Tuesday, April 13, called for solutions and alternatives following the announcement of the rail service interruption. Salas detailed that Renfe will implement a transitional system during the expansion works of the Commuter Rail.
“"This is always done whenever there is an impact due to works."
The delegate recalled that similar plans have been applied in the past, such as during issues on the high-speed line between Málaga and Antequera. He also confirmed that the action plan has been communicated to the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and is reflected in the Capacity Restriction Catalog, an annually updated document.
In his statements, Salas also criticized the stance of the mayors of the Costa del Sol who demanded an alternative plan, questioning their motivations. He suggested that the opposition might stem from the fact that the Government of Pedro Sánchez is the first to undertake a capacity expansion of the C1 line with an unprecedented investment.
“"It seems that what bothers the PP mayors is that the Government of Pedro Sánchez is the first to undertake a capacity expansion of the C1 Commuter Rail line in Málaga with an unprecedented investment in this line."
Finally, Salas lamented that the Popular Party does not carry out actions that improve citizens' lives, arguing that “any improvement work can always cause inconvenience.” He urged the administrations governed by the PP to collaborate for the good of the citizens when the works begin, instead of practicing confrontation with the Government of Spain.
