Salas addressed the concerns of Popular Party mayors from the Costa del Sol, who had requested explanations regarding the planned actions. The sub-delegate emphasized that Renfe, as is customary during mobility-affecting works, will provide transitional measures to minimize inconvenience to citizens.
The intervention on the C-1 line, aimed at increasing its capacity and improving sustainable mobility, has been previously reported by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility. Salas highlighted that this action is reflected in the Capacity Restriction Catalog, a document updated annually, which, according to him, demonstrates the transparency of the current Government.
“"It seems that what bothers the PP mayors is that Pedro Sánchez's Government is the first to undertake a capacity expansion of the C1 Commuter line in Málaga with an unprecedented investment in this line."
Salas's response follows a letter sent to the General Directorate of the Railway Sector by the mayors of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre; Benalmádena, Juan Antonio Lara; Torremolinos, Margarita del Cid; and Fuengirola, Ana Mula. The sub-delegate urged these mayors to clarify whether they support the infrastructure improvement or if their intention is to hinder the project.
Furthermore, Salas acknowledged that any improvement work can cause inconvenience but criticized PP administrations for, in his opinion, failing to implement actions that benefit citizens. He expressed hope that, once the works begin, the administrations governed by the PP will collaborate for the good of the citizens, avoiding confrontations with the central Government.
