The Malaga subway has registered its best demand balance during the special Fair services since its operation began in 2014. Specifically, 34,628 more travelers were moved than last year, with a daily average of 40,213 users. This year's figures surpass those of 2023 by 19.2%, when 337,273 users were counted, especially after the extension of the lines to the historic center.
The day with the highest attendance was the Night of the Fireworks on Friday, with 62,979 travelers, 30.8% more than the previous year. This daily figure is the highest in the entire historical series of special Fair operations. It was followed by Thursday (45,370 travelers), Tuesday (45,147), and Monday (44,562).
The growth compared to the last edition was positive on eight out of the ten analyzed days. Notable increases include Tuesday, with a 46.3% rise in users, Monday (11.3% more), and the second Saturday of the Fair (10.8% increase).
The Regional Ministry of Public Works and Mobility of the Regional Government of Andalusia has positively assessed these results, highlighting the Metro's role in accessing both the historic center and the Cortijo de Torres fairgrounds. The expansion of the Guadalmedina and Atarazanas stations in March 2023, along with the reinforcement of hours and frequencies during the Fair, have been key to meeting demand.
Currently, lines 1 and 2 of the Malaga Metro cover 13.6 kilometers and have 19 stations and stops. Since its commercial operation began in July 2014, the subway has transported over 109 million passengers.
