The Malaga-based club has formalized its entry into the second continental competition after earning their spot as third in the regular season of the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola and reaching the play-off semifinals. The 'panteras' will thus access the highest European competition possible for a Spanish team, which they will contest for the third time. Previous participations were in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, achieving qualification for the group stage in the latter.
The team coached by Suso Gallardo will start in the preliminary round, where they will likely need to overcome two knockout ties to reach the main draw. The European Handball Federation (EHF) will publish the competition calendar and draw dates in the coming weeks. The first round is expected to take place between late September and early October, with the second in November, preceding the European Championship. This challenge represents an ambitious new cycle for the Malaga club at the European level.
Recently, the club learned its position in the continental ranking published by the EHF. This ranking, which accumulates merits from the last three seasons in European competitions (Champions League, European League, and European Cup), places the Malaga team in 29th position with 95 points. Among the 162 clubs listed, other Spanish teams include CBM Elche (20), Super Amara Bera Bera (32), Atlético Guardés (41), Conservas Orbe Zendal BM Porriño (45), Rocasa Gran Canaria (54), KH-7 BM Granollers (69), Caja Rural Aula Valladolid (79), and Replasa Beti-Onak (87).
