The rail connection between Málaga and Seville has suffered a new incident. A maintenance train has derailed, disrupting the medium-distance service linking the Andalusian capital with the Málaga city and also with Cádiz. This mishap adds to the interruption of three commuter lines in the province of Seville: lines C1, C4, and C5.
Adif reported via its social media channels that "work is underway to restore circulation as soon as possible." This incident occurs just days after another medium-distance train struck a fallen overhead line, forcing the suspension of the C-2 commuter line in Málaga for the entire past Saturday.
The C-2 commuter line in Málaga, connecting the capital of the Costa del Sol with Álora, was restored last Sunday. This line had been interrupted on Saturday following an incident where a Medium Distance train (number 13921, traveling from María Zambrano station to Sevilla Santa Justa) hit a dislodged overhead line. According to Adif, the overhead line was down due to issues during scheduled works in the area.
