Efforts to extinguish the fire, which broke out early Monday morning at the Le Grand Café establishment in Malaga city and also affected a hotel in the same building, are ongoing. The blaze, now under control according to municipal sources, has completely destroyed the commercial premises and nearly half of the hotel, with a visible column of smoke rising from the upper floors.
Firefighters, who responded to initial alerts around 01:26 AM in the Pasillo de Guimbarda area, have been on-site for over 18 hours. Ventilation and total extinction work are expected to continue throughout the day.
The fire has been controlled, but a large column of smoke is still visible emerging from the upper floors.
As a precautionary measure, emergency services evacuated all hotel rooms, affecting more than a hundred guests. Fortunately, there were no personal injuries reported.
In a separate incident on Monday in Malaga city, firefighters also extinguished a fire that started on the upper floor, used for storage rooms, of a building on Saint Exupery street around 07:10 AM, with no personal injuries sustained.
