The application form for the Developing Universal Narratives from Andalusia (DUNA) program is now open. This initiative, driven by San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, the Regional Ministry of Tourism and Exterior Andalusia of the Junta de Andalucía, and Andalucía Film Commission, aims to connect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in Andalusia with internationally recognized production companies.
Confirmed professionals include Pedro “Tate” Arráez (Location Manager at A Film Location Company, with credits on Game of Thrones and The Crown), Álvaro Iglesias (Founding Partner at Solworks, known for Heartstopper S3), Juan Jiménez (Production Director at Calle Cruzada), Rafael López Manzanara (with experience on Superlópez and La Casa de Papel), and Dani Ojeda (advertising for LVMH and Adidas). DUNA will coordinate meetings between these professionals and SME representatives during the convention, facilitating business opportunities and contributing to the growth of creative industries.
To participate in DUNA, SMEs must be based in Andalusia, have an activity connected to the audiovisual or tourism sector, and be available for meetings between October 1 and 4, 2026. Applications must be submitted via the online form before Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
SDCC Málaga is establishing itself as a meeting point for European creative industries, covering film, series, comics, video games, and animation. The creation of DUNA stems from this commitment to connection and development.
The initiative was presented in May at the Marché du Film de Cannes. The acting Minister of Tourism and Exterior Andalusia, Arturo Bernal, emphasized that DUNA transforms Málaga Comic-Con into a business platform for Andalusian companies, highlighting the region's talent and technical capacity for global projects. Bernal also stressed the tourism impact of film shoots, which create opportunities in accommodation, transport, and specialized services, promoting Andalusia's image through its unique locations.
San Diego Comic-Con Málaga will maintain its capacity of 90,000 attendees and expand its spaces, including a new pavilion of over 9,000 square meters and a larger Artists’ Alley. The event is co-financed by the Feder Andalucía 2021-2027 Program and the Junta de Andalucía.
