An incident alerted residents in the Cristo de la Epidemia area of Málaga last Saturday when a car began to burn, generating explosions. The event occurred shortly before 4:00 PM, prompting numerous calls to the 112 Emergency Service.
Local police proceeded to close the street, located near number 70, to allow firefighters to intervene. These units successfully extinguished the fire, after which traffic was restored past 6:00 PM.
The two occupants of the vehicle managed to exit in time upon noticing the smoke, so no injuries were reported. However, the car was completely destroyed.
There are no reports of injuries.
This incident adds to a similar one that occurred last Saturday on the AP-7 highway, near Higuerón (Benalmádena). On that occasion, a driver went off the road, hit a barrier, and overturned, causing his vehicle to catch fire. Another driver alerted 112 and rescued the injured person from the burning car.
Emergency services, including paramedics and firefighters, arrived at the scene on the AP-7, focusing their efforts on extinguishing the fire that threatened to spread to the nearby forest area. The injured driver was transported to a hospital after receiving initial assistance at the site.
