The celebration of Málaga CF's promotion to La Liga was marred by an incident that could have had more serious consequences. During the team's parade through the city streets, a flare thrown by fans landed in the crowd, hitting a 19-month-old baby.
The events occurred around 10:00 PM, as hundreds of supporters awaited the team's procession. Police have identified two fans allegedly involved in throwing the pyrotechnic device, which fell into the middle of the crowd gathered in the Divina Pastora area.
The toddler, identified as Nora, suffered burns on her arm after the projectile landed on her head and ignited part of the team's shirt she was wearing. Her mother, Patricia, recounted the distress of the moment, describing how the projectile fell on her daughter and set her shirt on fire, causing the burn.
“"My daughter got very scared. She kept saying ‘Mommy, ouchie’. Logically, we left."
The mother lamented that no one checked on the minor's condition after the incident, and that her father, a doctor, had to attend to her immediately. In addition to the girl's injuries, another woman suffered minor burns to her hand while trying to remove the projectile from the child's shirt.
Patricia expressed her sadness about the emotional impact on her daughter, who loves the team and left the event traumatized and frightened by the incident.
