These annual conferences, themed ‘Caring for hearts, transforming lives’, aim to provide patients, families, and the general public with relevant information on cardiovascular health. The initiative blends scientific dissemination with the experiences of individuals living with heart disease, fostering a space for connection and participation centered on prevention, knowledge, and support to enhance quality of life.
Auxiliadora Moreno, delegate for Equality, Development Cooperation, Consumption, and Citizen Participation of the provincial institution, detailed that the program covers topics of significant interest such as advancements in cardiology, the link between oral health and cardiovascular disease, the role of caregivers and emotional self-care, cardiomyopathy monitoring, and the importance of lipoprotein(a) as a cardiovascular risk factor.
In addition to professional perspectives, the conferences feature the testimony of a heart transplant recipient, offering a realistic view for those facing these conditions and highlighting the importance of healthcare, recovery, and ongoing support.
Alfonso Otero, president of Aspacacor, expressed satisfaction with the event's reception and gratitude for the opportunity to give back to society what public healthcare provided them: saving their lives. He emphasized the importance of awareness and implementing healthy habits taught during cardiac rehabilitation at the Reina Sofía Hospital.
The current objective, according to Otero, is not only to offer support tools to those affected but also to promote a mindset of active prevention, under the slogan ‘A cared-for heart is a transformed life’.
The event, coordinated by María José de la Torre, secretary of Aspacacor, included the participation of prominent professionals such as María Ángeles García, manager of the Andalusian Health Service; Francisco Triviño, general director of the Reina Sofía Hospital; and Dolores Mesa, president of the Andalusian Cardiology Foundation.
Triviño congratulated Aspacacor and thanked the hospital's professionals for their work in caring for cardiovascular health, from diagnosis and prevention to surgery and rehabilitation.
