Chiclana will have an employment plan of 1.1 million euros, funded by the Spanish Government, for the hiring of unemployed individuals for the reconstruction and repair of areas affected by last winter's storms.

The Cadiz municipality is preparing to launch this initiative, which will allow for the hiring of workers for a period of six months. The plan will be particularly focused on the autumn and winter seasons, when tourist activity declines, aiming to create employment during periods of lower demand.
Mayor José María Román, accompanied by the Councillor for Personnel, José Vera, and the Head of Economic Development, Manuela Pérez, announced this financial contribution, highlighting its crucial timing for job creation. The total allocation amounts to 1,116,329 euros, divided into 930,274 euros guaranteed and an additional 186,055 euros.
Currently, the City Council is in the process of preparing the plan, with its report due before August 30th. The departments of Personnel, Development, Urban Maintenance, Works, and Environment are coordinating the necessary professional profiles, contribution groups, working hours, and labor costs.
The professional profiles considered for these contracts include a variety of positions such as administrative officers, administrative assistants, skilled laborers (first, second, and third class), specialists, laborers, subordinates, unqualified assistants, and administrative and workshop managers, among others. Selected individuals must be registered as job seekers with the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE).
This funding is in addition to other resources allocated to address storm damage. The Central Government had already granted 18.84 million euros for infrastructure, roads, environment, and municipal buildings. Furthermore, the Regional Government of Andalusia has contributed over 500,000 euros, and the Central Government an additional 1.2 million.
José Vera emphasized the dual benefit of the measure: advancing the recovery of affected areas and providing employment opportunities for the unemployed. He highlighted that the program will finance 100% of labor costs, easing the burden on municipal finances.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy has awarded direct subsidies totaling 50 million euros to over 700 municipalities in Andalusia and Extremadura affected by these climatic events.
