The town of Villanueva del Duque in Córdoba is gearing up for a musical celebration on Saturday, June 27th, with the third Duquesonora Charanga Festival. This event has become a significant cultural fixture in the northern part of the province, anticipating a large turnout.
The local band El Bombazo is the main organizer, supported by the Villanueva del Duque City Council. This year's festival will feature seven musical groups. In addition to Spanish acts, the event will include, for the first time, participants from Portugal, enhancing the Duquesonora's international scope.
The participating bands are Malafama (from Ciudad Real), Los Cocolodros (from Hinojosa del Duque), Charanga 404 (from Málaga), Bandustika (from Castelo de Vide, Portugal), Los Hombres de Tucci (from Villalba del Alcor, Huelva), El Bombazo (from Villanueva del Duque), and Los Furtivos (from Madrid).
The day kicks off at 12:30 PM with the official presentation of all bands in the Plaza del Duque de Béjar. Following this, the traditional 'pasa bares' will commence, a musical tour through several local establishments. In the afternoon, awards will be presented for the children's contest to design the festival's mascot, named “Duquito,” and the highly anticipated 'Charanga Battle' will take place.
The musical program will continue with various performances, including the group Dale Mambo Show. A highlight of the evening will be the performance by the Madrid-based band Los Furtivos at 11:00 PM. The festivities will carry on into the early morning with a DJ set by Paco.
In addition to the music, the festival will offer a full day of complementary activities for all ages, featuring food trucks, children's games, face painting, and sales of ice cream and sweets.
The mayor of Villanueva del Duque, Miguel Granados Hinojosa, emphasized the festival's growing significance for the town and the region. He highlighted the successful collaboration between the City Council and the band El Bombazo, establishing the event as a cultural benchmark in Los Pedroches. Granados also expressed gratitude to the local associations involved, such as the Hermandad de La Borriquita, the Asociación de Senderismo El Retamar, the Asociación Cultural El Juncoso, and Entre Cuervos y Cuplés.
In just three editions, Duquesonora has emerged as one of the most promising festive events in the region, fostering music, community spirit, and local associative engagement.
