The City Council of Villanueva de Córdoba has unveiled the schedule for its Fairs and Festivals, taking place from August 4th to 9th. Mayor Isaac Reyes, accompanied by members of the government team, detailed the main events of a celebration that seeks to blend tradition with novelties to attract a diverse audience, particularly young people.
As a new feature, the opening speech will be delivered by the Los Chaparreros family, offering a collective voice from the Municipal Theater to inaugurate the festivities. The musical program at the Caseta Municipal will include orchestras, cover bands, tributes, Andalusian rock, pop, and flamenco, with performances focused on the afternoons and evenings to mitigate the August heat.
Bullfighting events will kick off the fair with a mixed bullfight, featuring rejoneador Sebastián Fernández and matadors Fortes and Víctor Hernández, who will face bulls from the El Canario and Valdefresno ranches. On Saturday, August 7th, the bullring will host the popular Grand Prix.
The fair will officially begin on Tuesday, August 4th, with a floral offering to the patron saints San Miguel and Virgen de Luna, followed by a parade and the lighting of the fairgrounds. The Festivals Department, led by Ana Isabel Torralbo, has expressed gratitude to associations, clubs, and groups for their work in organizing activities such as the horse parade and the sevillanas dance contest.
Mayor Isaac Reyes emphasized the importance of participation from all citizens, including a special Tribute to the Elderly on August 5th. The Villanueva de Córdoba Music Band will provide morning entertainment with a 'diana floreada' from August 4th to 9th, and the fair will conclude with fireworks.
With an inclusive approach, the fair will feature the Caseta Cero for young people and quiet hours for children with sensory sensitivities at the attractions, along with special discounts. The cultural offerings include an exhibition of watercolors by Bernardo Ríos at the Audiencia starting August 2nd.
