The town of Dos Torres is preparing to host the documentary film A Mystical Journey next Friday, September 11. The film, directed by Lucas Hidalgo, recounts the final months of Saint John of the Cross's life in the city of Úbeda.
This event will serve as a prelude to the XXIV Rural Film Showcase of Dos Torres. Following the screening, a discussion will take place with the participation of Father Francisco Víctor López Fernández, OCD Prior of Úbeda.
The documentary, filmed in 2025 at the historical locations where the events occurred, offers a fictionalized perspective on the life of the mystical poet. It addresses his figure from religious, philosophical, and medical angles, highlighting his importance as a poet of the Spanish Golden Age.
The production features a quality artistic cast, including Oscar Cabrera, Amada Santos, Manuel Salas, José Varela, Pedro Jiménez Vallejo, José Fuentes, and José Márquez. The main soundtrack is by Sito Ortega, with cinematography and color by David Martex, and sound recording and costume design by Floresilla de Primavera.
