The new facilities for the Arms Intervention unit of the Guardia Civil Barracks in Pozoblanco have been inaugurated. The event was attended by the mayor, Santiago Cabello Muñoz, the government sub-delegate in Córdoba, Ana M. López Losilla, the lieutenant colonel of the Guardia Civil of Córdoba, Emilio Muñoz Arcos, and other members of the government team and municipal corporation. Captain Manuel Medrán, head of the company, was also present and congratulated for his upcoming retirement after 45 years of service.
This project, funded through the Program for the Promotion of Agricultural Employment (PFEA), involved adapting disused old offices to house the new arms room, as well as spaces for reception, public attention, administrative posts, and archives. Humidity problems in the facade have been resolved, and building accessibility has been comprehensively improved.
Mayor Santiago Cabello highlighted that "this action is a clear example of how the City Council continues to collaborate loyally with other administrations to improve essential infrastructures that provide a fundamental service to citizens." He emphasized that "not only are key facilities for the Guardia Civil being modernized, but public attention to residents is also improved, and adequate and safe access is guaranteed."
The works have reorganized interior spaces to create a reception area with a public service counter, administrative offices, and a larger archive, including the armory, all in strict compliance with current technical and safety regulations. A new adapted access ramp has also been installed, replacing the previous one which caused humidity leaks.
The mayor underscored the importance of the PFEA as a tool for improving public infrastructure and generating employment. He noted that "a total of eight people worked on this project, contributing to the local economy while advancing public service improvements."
These improvements will directly impact the quality of service provided by the Arms and Explosives Intervention department in Pozoblanco, a crucial unit covering the surrounding municipalities and carrying out key functions such as issuing licenses, storing weaponry, and conducting inspections. The current staff at the Guardia Civil post in Pozoblanco consists of 24 agents.
