The town of Añora hosted the Los Pedroches Rural Mini-Olympics, an event that brought together nearly 300 children to enjoy traditional games and ensure their generational succession.

Nearly 300 participants, divided into 37 teams from various towns in the region such as Añora, Pozoblanco, Dos Torres, and Villanueva de Córdoba, gathered in Añora to celebrate the Los Pedroches Rural Mini-Olympics. The event, held over two days, primarily aimed to promote and ensure the continuity of the traditional games that define this competition's identity.
The young competitors, born between 2013 and 2022, were organized into two categories. Category A, for the youngest (born between 2018 and 2022), included 18 teams. Category B, for those born between 2013 and 2017, gathered 19 formations. The winning teams in Category A were Jaragüeyes, Minichupipandi, and Trastoleros, while in Category B, the victors were Pipiolitos, Canjilones, and Estrellas Olímpicas.
This edition introduced several significant novelties. The number of team members increased from six to eight. Furthermore, Category B participants competed for the first time with real clay jars, adapted to their size, for which the organization provided training elements beforehand. The greased pole (cucaña) event was also integrated into the overall classification, ceasing to be an exhibition.
The Mini-Olympics program began on Friday with a parade from the Plaza de la Iglesia to the football field. On Saturday, the jar competitions took place near the Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña, also the venue for the main Rural Olympics. Subsequently, the spoon and egg, wheelbarrow, and stilt races were held. The event concluded with an awards ceremony, a performance by the group Delorean, and an inflatable play area.
The Rural Mini-Olympics are consolidating their role as the feeder for the Los Pedroches Rural Olympics, serving as a platform for new generations to discover and practice traditional games, thereby ensuring the preservation of the region's cultural heritage and the continuity of this unique summer event in the northern part of the province of Córdoba.
