The Hinojosa del Duque City Council has officially presented the facilities of the new municipal canine shelter. The event was attended by the mayor of the town, Matías González, accompanied by members of the Governing Team.
Mayor Matías González highlighted the effort made by the municipal government to bring this project to fruition, emphasizing the special bond between humans and companion animals. He noted that the facilities respond to the need to offer a dignified reception space and thanked the workers and volunteers for their contributions.
For his part, the Councilor for the Environment, Santiago Jesús Aranda, expressed his satisfaction with the launch of this infrastructure, making special mention of Juan Felipe Flores as the main driver of the initiative. Aranda described the project as "a duty of institutions and a moral obligation of citizenship," highlighting that, after years of intense work, the town finally has this necessary resource.
The councilor emphasized that the shelter should be conceived as a transit point, with the primary goal of facilitating responsible adoption so that each animal can find a new family. To this end, next week the official social network will be launched where the profiles and photographs of the sheltered animals will be published to streamline adoption procedures. Furthermore, individuals interested in actively and altruistically collaborating in animal care can register through the City Council.
Finally, a call was made to the public for responsible pet ownership, reminding them that the opening of the center should not lead to an increase in abandonments, in order to prevent overcrowding and ensure the shelter's long-term sustainability.
