The municipality of Añora, located in the Los Pedroches region of Córdoba, is gearing up to host its emblematic Cross Festival on May 2nd and 3rd, a celebration renowned for its uniqueness and extensive cultural program.
The Córdoba Provincial Council recently hosted the official presentation of the festival's poster. "It is one of the most important, traditional, and authentic festivals in our province, like the Crosses of Añora. A festivity that stands out for being completely different from what we know and that is experienced throughout the year due to the amount of work it entails."
The program features a cross competition, with both indoor and outdoor categories, forming a central part of the festivities. Additionally, it is complemented by various activities, including two exhibitions by local artists, organized in collaboration with the Rafael Botí Plastic Arts Foundation, an entity affiliated with the Provincial Council's Culture Delegation.

"This festival is an authentic hallmark of Añora and a source of pride for all its residents. An ancestral tradition, centuries old, that has evolved with extraordinary uniqueness, giving it connotations that make these crosses very different."
The distinctiveness of Añora's Cross Festival has earned it recognition as a National Tourist Interest Festival of Andalusia and a Cultural Interest Asset (BIC) in its intangible heritage category. This prestige highlights the dedication of the residents, who year after year showcase their creativity while preserving the essence of this popular tradition.
The festivities will commence on May 1st with the Spring Festival at the fairgrounds. On Saturday, May 2nd, starting at 8:00 PM, the crosses will be opened to the public, initiating various musical performances across different locations in the municipality, including an orchestra in Plaza de España and popular music groups touring the streets. In the early hours of May 2nd to 3rd, attendees will be offered traditional chocolate with typical sweets before the jury's verdict at 5:00 AM. On Sunday, May 3rd, the day will feature the ninth quick painting competition, more musical acts, and a theatrical visit to the Cross Museum, alongside the aforementioned exhibitions.
