This festival, considered the most significant in the town, will feature a diverse program of parallel activities, including popular street music and two art exhibitions.
The prelude to the Fiesta de la Cruz will take place on May 1st with the Fiesta de la Primavera (Spring Festival) at the fairgrounds. The main day, Saturday, will commence at 8:00 PM with the opening of the crosses, followed by various musical performances throughout Añora, including an orchestra in the Plaza de España and folk music groups touring the streets.
In the early hours of May 2nd to 3rd, at 1:00 AM, the traditional chocolate with typical sweets will be served, preceding the jury's verdict at 5:00 AM. This year, the competition maintains the categories of indoor crosses, with five participants, and outdoor crosses, featuring eight.
On Sunday, the ninth quick painting contest will be held, alongside more street musical performances. A theatrical visit to the Museo de la Cruz (Cross Museum) and two exhibitions by the Rafael Botí Plastic Arts Foundation are also scheduled.
“"It is one of the most important festivals in our province, one of the most traditional and authentic, such as the crosses of Añora. A festivity that stands out for being completely different from what we know and that is lived throughout the year due to the amount of work it entails."
The Fiesta de la Cruz de Añora has been recognized as a National Tourist Interest Festival of Andalusia and an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) in its intangible category, a distinction that highlights its cultural value and the creativity of its residents.
