The Auditorio Ciudad de Vera hosted the naming ceremony, attended by family, friends, and neighbors. The event featured musical performances and speeches that highlighted the honoree's figure, whose life has been marked by his commitment to the well-being of the citizens of Vera and the entire province.
The Vera City Council has bestowed this distinction, the highest it can grant to a resident, in recognition of an exemplary life. The doctor's dedication, vocation, and professionalism have significantly contributed to the city's prestige and the welfare of several generations.
During the event, the honoree's grandchildren, Pablo and Javier Vázquez Ramírez, shared heartfelt words. Subsequently, a video was screened, reviewing key moments of his life, emphasizing his work in both professional and personal spheres. The mayor of Vera, Alfonso García Ramos, along with the municipal corporation, also participated in the tribute.

The ceremony's climax was the presentation of the medal and the institutional plaque, received with prolonged applause. The honoree expressed his gratitude, stating that Vera is the root that nourishes his identity and that he carries its name with pride.
The doctor, born in Vera on January 1, 1950, is a surgeon specializing in general and digestive system surgery. He spent most of his career at Hospital La Inmaculada de Huércal-Overa, where he was a specialist, section chief, and founder of the Breast Unit, making it a provincial reference until his retirement in 2017. He is the author of multiple scientific works and books, and has actively participated in the social, cultural, and religious life of the municipality, including his involvement in Vera's Holy Week.
