The incident occurred around 10:36 AM at a country house located in the Aljariz neighborhood. The minor, whose family does not reside in the municipality, was at the property with several relatives, including aunts, uncles, and her grandmother, while breakfast was being prepared.
According to sources close to the case, the rural estate's pool, lent by a family friend, was equipped with perimeter fencing and a bolt-secured gate. However, the child reportedly managed to open the access by herself and reach the water.
On realizing the girl was missing and finding her in the pool, those present began resuscitation efforts. Civil Guard officers, the 061 Health Emergency Center, and Local Police were dispatched to the scene. The mayor of Antas, Pedro Ridao, confirmed that local police arrived with municipal defibrillators and worked in coordination with three mobilized ambulances.
Despite prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts by paramedics, the child's life could not be saved. The 112 emergency service activated the protocol to offer psychological support to the family. Judicial Police took charge of the necessary proceedings and the subsequent removal of the body.
Mayor Pedro Ridao deeply lamented the incident, describing the intervention as "very difficult" and "critical moments." The Antas City Council plans to declare an official day of mourning for the minor's death.
