The municipality of Mojácar is preparing for one of its most anticipated events: the Night of the Candles 2026, taking place on September 19th. This established tradition will turn the historic center into a magical setting, where the usual lights will give way to thousands of candles distributed throughout streets, squares, and corners.
The candlelight illumination will enhance the architecture and the characteristic white-washed facades of Mojácar. The involvement of residents and merchants is crucial in creating this light display, which in previous editions has used between 7,000 and 8,000 candles. The celebration invites visitors to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the town under a completely different luminous perspective.
Live music will also be a key element, with performances spread across various squares and enclaves of the town, accompanying attendees on their journey. The mayor, Francisco García Cerdá, highlighted the special nature of this event, which allows for a unique view of Mojácar and unites residents, merchants, and visitors in a shared celebration.
Given the expected large turnout, the Mojácar City Council has organized a special public transport service. The bus service will begin at 6:00 PM, with the last bus departing from the town center at 2:45 AM. A special round-trip ticket will cost 3 euros, and its use is recommended to facilitate access and avoid private vehicles.
The Night of the Candles 2026 will offer an opportunity to rediscover Mojácar in a warm light and enjoy an experience that has become one of the municipality's most recognizable images.
