The Regional Government of Andalusia is carrying out landscape restoration and road safety improvement works at the junction between roads A-370 and A-1203, within the municipality of Mojácar. The project, visited by the territorial delegate for Public Works, Dolores Martínez Utrera, alongside the local mayor, Francisco García, has an investment of 48,121.29 euros.
The works focus on kilometer point 7+850 of the A-370 and 0+000 of the A-1203, an area that has suffered damage from torrential rain episodes and erosion. These phenomena had caused gullies and material runoff on the slopes, compromising the stability of the embankment and leading to mud accumulation on the roadway during rainfall. Furthermore, the junction's islands presented a significant visual impact due to their unconditioned state.
To address this issue, the slopes are being re-profiled and stabilized using stone and concrete linings, along with the construction of a riprap toe. Concurrently, landscape restoration of the junction is underway. This includes leveling the islands, installing weed control fabric, laying decorative gravels of different colors, and creating spaces for future plantings to better integrate the infrastructure into its surroundings.
The intervention also enhances road safety through the reordering of islands, the installation of new curbs, interior lighting of the frames, and the renewal of signage. The delegate for Public Works, Dolores Martínez Utrera, emphasized that the action underscores the "commitment of the Regional Government of Andalusia to the conservation of the regional road network, improving user safety and acting respectfully with the environment".
