In response to the forest fire emergency affecting Los Gallardos and Bédar, the IES Mediterráneo in Garrucha has launched various initiatives to support those affected. A primary action has been establishing the institute as a collection point for essential animal supplies.
In collaboration with the Animalist Association Eleos, the center is collecting carriers, absorbent pads, food, and other necessary products for the care of pets and animals impacted by the fire. This campaign aims to alleviate the direct consequences of the disaster on the region's animals.
Furthermore, students and teachers are volunteering as interpreters for evacuated foreign residents, facilitating communication with emergency teams and ensuring more personalized and effective assistance.
A group of volunteer students and former students is compiling a census of affected animals. This census is vital for their subsequent identification, location, and reunion with their owners once the emergency situation concludes.
The mobilization at IES Mediterráneo highlights its social commitment, joining forces with organizations and volunteers to provide practical aid to both people and animals. The initiative reflects the center's educational project values of solidarity, responsibility, and cooperation.
