The Infoca Plan operation has been mobilized to extinguish the flames in both incidents. In Sorbas, four groups of forest firefighters, two operations technicians, and a fire engine are working, supported by two semi-heavy helicopters and two ground-based air assets. This first fire was stabilized around 12:20 PM.
In Vélez-Rubio, the firefighting unit consists of a group of forest firefighters, a support group, an operations technician, a fire engine, and a light helicopter. Currently, the exact causes of both fires, as well as the affected area and the fire's progression, are unknown.
These two new outbreaks occur during the peak high-risk forest campaign in Andalusia, in a summer characterized by high temperatures and conditions conducive to fire spread. Extinguishing services maintain ground and air resources deployed due to the risk of new incidents.
