This project, declared of interest to the autonomous community in 2010, aims to group all discharges from the town and construct a modern treatment plant. The Junta de Andalucía has reported that the station is designed to process 2,369.40 cubic meters of wastewater per day, including the resulting sludge.
The implemented treatment system will be prolonged aeration, sized for a future population of 18,362 inhabitants. The technical project also includes the installation of all necessary elements for its proper functioning, such as instrumentation, control, auxiliary services, electrical installations, and specific buildings for sludge treatment and blowers.
The awarded company, Guamar, has almost entirely completed the pumping and gravity conduction works for the wastewater collection system, simultaneously restoring affected services. Currently, excavation and backfilling of the EDAR platform are underway, while the collection system has already reached approximately 85 percent completion.
