The publication, titled Miradas de una Semana Eterna (Glimpses of an Eternal Week), is the work of photographer Alberto Román and moves away from conventional views to focus on the details and human emotions surrounding the processions. The volume includes 130 carefully selected photographs, offering a unique perspective on this tradition.
During the presentation, the author expressed that the book represents a dream come true, allowing him to capture a decade of his work on paper. The work seeks to capture gestures and moments that often go unnoticed, offering a more intimate and profound view of Úbeda's Holy Week.
“"We are used to seeing these photographs on screens, but the book gives them the elegance they deserve."
The project has a strong charitable dimension, as all proceeds from the book's sales will go towards the restoration of the Santa Clara Convent, an emblematic building in Úbeda dating back to 1290 that urgently requires intervention for its preservation. The book can be acquired with a minimum donation of 10 euros.
The initiative is supported by the Jaén Provincial Council, the Úbeda City Council through the World Heritage Department, and the Union of Brotherhoods of the city. The publication also includes texts by historians and ecclesiastical figures, enriching its documentary and narrative value.
