The Provincial Council of Jaén has confirmed its participation in the 14th Olive Grove Fair, Futuroliva 2026, which will take place in Baeza from May 7 to 9. The event will be held at the New Exhibition Center in this city, recognized as a World Heritage Site. The provincial institution will have its own stand and will actively promote the Jaén Selección 2026 Extra Virgin Olive Oils (EVOOs), as well as the Olive Oil Tourism destination in Baeza.
During the fair's presentation, attended by representatives from the Junta de Andalucía, the Baeza City Council, and the organizing company Pópulo Servicios Turísticos, the importance of this biennial gathering was highlighted. It was emphasized that the fair represents a crucial opportunity for the entire agricultural sector of the province of Jaén, which is fundamental for its economic development.
“"This event is a space for reflection, dialogue, and above all, for learning about innovation and addressing the real needs of farmers."
The Provincial Council will place special emphasis on valuing olive oil, known as the region's “liquid gold,” through the Jaén Selección strategy. Additionally, a dialogue space will be organized on May 8 to present the Olive Oil Tourism destination in Baeza, reinforcing support for the olive oil tourism sector through aid for the tourist use of oil mills and leading the Experiencias Oleoturismo España project alongside the Spanish Association of Olive Oil Municipalities (AEMO).
The fair is being held at a critical time for the sector, following the difficulties of the last harvest, which saw a loss of 100,000 tons in the province of Jaén, nearly 20% of the olive oil collection. Futuroliva is positioned as an essential tool to address farmers' challenges and consolidate the sector. The event, considered one of the most important at provincial and regional levels, will offer technical conferences, gastronomic activities, photography and cooking contests, and an exhibition of agricultural and olive oil machinery, with over 50 EVOO brands present across its 23,000 square meters of exhibition space.
