The iconic El Palmar beach, located in Vejer de la Frontera, is undergoing a thorough preparation process for the upcoming 2026 summer season. The official opening is scheduled for June 13th, by which time the beach is expected to be in optimal condition thanks to conditioning efforts and infrastructure improvements.
The work, which began in March following the winter storms that affected the Cadiz coast, focuses on recovering damaged areas and general coastal adaptation. Among the most notable actions is the replacement of elements forming the dune system enclosure, crucial for protecting this valuable natural environment and limiting transit through sensitive zones.
Regarding facilities, the City Council has invested over 60,000 euros in installing a new adapted service module for people with reduced mobility, strategically located next to the main service unit. Additionally, a new restroom module has been set up near the Conilete stream, addressing a recurring demand from users in this area.
Concurrently, the Ministry for Ecological Transition, through the Directorate General for Coasts, is carrying out a significant coastal regeneration project. 80,000 cubic meters of sand will be added to restore the beach's profile, which was diminished by recent bad weather. These actions complement the repairs to access walkways carried out in April.
El Palmar beach is a key tourist landmark in Vejer and one of the most frequented destinations on the Cadiz coast during the summer. With these improvements, the coastline is expected to be fully prepared to welcome the progressive increase in visitors from June 13th onwards, ensuring an optimal experience for both residents and tourists.
