Barbate is preparing to host the Great Sardine Festival & Maritime Fiesta this Saturday, August 22, a festive and gastronomic day with solidarity purposes.

The town of Barbate in Cádiz is gearing up for the Great Sardine Festival & Maritime Fiesta this Saturday, August 22. The event, organized by the CUPAMAR Association and the Barbate City Council, primarily aims to raise funds for the restoration of the Falucho Poldito, a historic vessel built in 1927.
The event will kick off at 12:00 PM on the esplanade in front of the port, at the beginning of the promenade. Attendees can enjoy a popular sardine feast, including sardines and a drink for five euros. Additionally, the day will feature various tapas, grilled meats, live music performances, and DJ sets.
The program also includes an artisan market, two solidarity bingo sessions, and practical workshops focused on traditional maritime trades. Participants will have the chance to learn about techniques such as boat carpentry, caulking, net sewing, and lateen sail navigation, highlighting the area's maritime heritage.

"This initiative will allow attendees to connect with the local culture and maritime heritage while enjoying a gastronomic and festive day by the port."

the Barbate City Council
The Barbate council has encouraged residents and visitors to join this initiative, which seeks not only to offer a day of leisure and celebration but also to contribute to the preservation of an emblematic vessel linked to the maritime history of Barbate.
