The project seeks to highlight historical fishing techniques in the region. The construction has been entrusted to Astilleros Nereo, located in the Pedregalejo neighborhood of Malaga, renowned for their expertise in traditional boatbuilding, a craft recognized as a General Cataloged Asset within the Andalusian Historical Heritage.
The vessel, measuring over six meters in length and crafted from oak and pine, recreates the traditional inshore fishing boats that were once vital to the coastal economy. The project involves an investment of 18,143.95 euros, funded by grants from the Ministry of Industry and Tourism for the restoration of the Torre del Mar Castle, a site declared a Property of Cultural Interest.
In addition to the boat, the local government has awarded a separate contract for the installation of signage around the castle. This includes the placement of information totems and panels designed to enhance the visitor experience and explain the history of the site, which originally served as a defense against maritime attacks.
