The municipal swimming pool in Triana has kicked off its summer season on July 1st, offering residents free access for sports members and complimentary swimming lessons for adults and children. The facility, which annually welcomes numerous bathers, now features extended swimming hours.
The deputy mayor, Lourdes Piña (PP), highlighted the facility improvements as a "complete and functional summer offering," the result of coordinated work between the Mayor's Office and the Vélez-Málaga City Council. Piña emphasized the promotion of healthy habits and an activity program designed for all ages.
Operational staff have been praised for their "dedication and efficiency" in the maintenance and preparation of the complex. The Sports Department was responsible for the repair, conditioning, and cleaning tasks, as well as organizing aquatic activities, ensuring "optimal bathing conditions" and a "safe, comfortable, and quality service."
The deputy mayor underscored the importance of these environments as meeting points and leisure spaces during the hottest months. The extended and accessible hours aim to help residents balance these recreational activities with their work schedules.
The pool will be open seven days a week. From Monday to Friday, hours will be from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, while on weekends it will be available from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Swimming lessons, taught by specialized instructors from the Club Natación Axarquía, will be offered in sessions for adults (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM) and for children (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM), focusing on initiation and improvement. Registrations are processed at the Mayor's Office.
Additionally, Aquagym sessions have been introduced on Mondays from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. This popular activity combines underwater movements to music, focusing on low-impact exercises, toning, and strengthening muscles and joints. Registrations for Aquagym can be made by calling 622 850 294.
Lourdes Piña invited everyone to enjoy the pool's offerings and called for user responsibility in maintaining the facilities. With this opening, the Vélez-Málaga City Council reaffirms its commitment to sports, health, and citizen well-being.
