Torre del Mar, part of Vélez-Málaga, will commemorate Tourist Day next Thursday, August 27th, with a free tasting of a large cake.

The town of Torre del Mar in Malaga is preparing to celebrate its eighth edition of Tourist Day on Thursday, August 27th. The event, aimed at thanking visitors for choosing the area for their holidays, will feature a free tasting of a giant cake designed for over 4,000 people.
The celebration will kick off at 8:30 PM on the Poniente Maritime Promenade, next to the iconic Lighthouse. This initiative, a staple of the summer program, once again benefits from the collaboration of local chef Roberto Soler from the Sabores Cooking School.
This year, the giant cake, measuring nearly six square meters, will be inspired by the history of the Torre del Mar lighthouses, a symbol of its maritime identity. Jesús Pérez Atencia, the deputy mayor and tourism councilor, emphasized that such events invigorate the municipality and enhance the summer offerings.
Chef Roberto Soler explained that the cake will be rectangular, returning to the style of the early maritime creations. The decoration will include fondant figures, edible sand, and a sea made of cream. Regarding ingredients, the cake will use 100 sheets of white sponge cake, 350 liters of vegetable cream, 50 liters of spiced syrup, 60 kilos of speculoos cream, 15 kilos of ground speculoos biscuits, and approximately 80 kilos of fondant for the covering.
Pérez Atencia extended an invitation to residents, tourists, and visitors to join this day of appreciation, which reinforces Torre del Mar's status as a leading tourist destination on the Costa del Sol.
