The construction of the new street that will link the Glorieta de Profesionales de la Sanidad, next to the Health Center, with Avenida de Pescia in Nerja is expected to begin in the first week of September. This project will be carried out along the route of the current Calle Chíllar, where the Centro de Servicios Sociales Comunitarios and the Mercadona supermarket are located, as well as the San Miguel passage.
The project has an investment of 948,732.87 euros, entirely funded by municipal funds, with an execution period of eight months. The mayor, José Alberto Armijo, announced the start of the works following a working meeting with the awarded company, Sardalla Española S.A., the councilors for Infrastructure and Urban Planning, the head of the Local Police, and the municipal Public Works engineer, aimed at coordinating preliminary actions, especially regarding mobility.
José Alberto Armijo highlighted the project's significance, stating that it "will have a huge impact on the area's vehicular traffic and will help decongest Calle San Miguel." He also noted that the new connection will facilitate access to the Health Center and the future parking building and Transport Interchange from Avenida de Pescia.
The new street, to be named Alcalde Gabriel Broncano, will feature a two-way traffic system and will be equipped with all necessary infrastructure. The project includes the construction of new sidewalks, public lighting, and the corresponding water supply, sanitation, and storm drainage networks.
This initiative will bring a significant improvement to mobility and road connectivity in this area of Nerja, further strengthening access to important public facilities that will soon be integrated into the surroundings.
