Tajillo street will be renamed Paco Haro street, in a gesture that seeks to honor the figure of Francisco José Haro Ramírez, a resident closely linked to the public life of Nerja in recent decades. The proposal, which will be submitted to the municipal plenary, highlights his social, cultural, and communicative work.
The mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, personally communicated the decision to Haro, calling him a "social benchmark" for his role in the media, his solidarity commitment, and his collaboration with local festivals and traditions. The mayor emphasized that it is a "deserved recognition" for a much-loved person, especially for naming the street where he was born.
Paco Haro is considered one of the pioneers of local radio in Nerja. Since 1983, along with his brothers, he has developed a notable career as a broadcaster on various stations such as Radio Narixa and Radio Juventud, in addition to participating in local television programs. His work has also been fundamental in charitable initiatives, using the media to promote aid campaigns and being recognized as an exemplary blood donor.
In addition to his role as a communicator and social collaborator, Haro has contributed to the cultural sphere, training young people as a scenography professor and collaborating in the design of sets for events such as the Nerja Fair and Carnival. With this name change, Nerja seeks to perpetuate the legacy of a resident active in the cultural, festive, and solidarity life of the municipality.
