Two people lost their lives by drowning on the afternoon of Friday, June 12, on Las Lindes beach, located in Torrox-Costa, in the province of Málaga. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM in the area between the beach bars Mambo and Las Palmeras, in the Torcasol zone.
The victims, according to initial reports, are a man and a woman approximately 80 years old and of foreign origin. It is suspected, though not yet officially confirmed, that they may have been a married couple residing in the town. The incident happened at the beginning of the summer season, with bathers present on the beach.
Emergency teams could do nothing to save the lives of either of the two victims.
The alert was raised after several witnesses reported a person in distress in the water and another floating near the shore. Personnel from the Guardia Civil, the Local Police of Torrox, and health teams were quickly dispatched to the scene. Despite the rapid intervention, emergency services were unable to revive either individual.
The bodies remained on the beach awaiting the judicial authority for the removal of the deceased, a mandatory procedure in such cases. The Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the drownings.
The incident caused great shock among the bathers and residents present on Las Lindes beach, a very popular spot in Torrox-Costa, especially at the start of summer.
