The Axarquía region has been the focus of a tourism promotion day, where technicians from the Province of Málaga explored the Minaret Route and the Sierras Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park to enhance local offerings.

The second day of the FAM Trip Axarquía Costa del Sol brought together about thirty technicians from the Tourism Offices of Málaga province. The tour began in Daimalos, in the municipality of Arenas, home to one of Spain's oldest and best-preserved minarets. This site is a key point on the Minaret Route, a project developed by the Mancomunidad de Municipios Axarquía Costa del Sol in collaboration with local historians and researchers.
Next to the Daimalos minaret, participants visited the Arab Fountain, popularly known as the Fountain of Love, which retains its original 12th-century structure. Local tradition holds that «Whoever drinks the magical water from the fountain will find love or marry within a year».
The next stop was Árchez, a village in the Axarquía renowned for housing another of Spain's most beautiful minarets, declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1979. There, professionals faced a local challenge: climbing the bell tower and kissing a lizard relief, a tradition for those seeking a partner.

"Active tourism, rural tourism, and cultural tourism have been the protagonists of this visit. Those who serve the public in the Tourism Offices of Málaga province have left well-equipped with information on gastronomic experiences, hiking, canyoning, and flora."

Jorge Martín · President of the Commonwealth
To conclude the day, the group ventured into the Sierras Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park through Canillas de Albaida, known as the “Pearl of the Axarquía”. They explored its historic center and discovered the many possibilities that the town and the Axarquía region offer around this natural area.
This promotional initiative, organized by the Tourism Department of the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Axarquía together with Tourism and Planning of the Diputación de Málaga, aims to provide tourism professionals with a comprehensive, first-hand view of the destination. The first day included visits to the Trops avocado cooperative, the historic center of Vélez-Málaga, the Dimobe Museum Winery in Moclinejo, and the Vivo Moclinejo Interpretation Center in El Borge.
