The young student, who initially did not expect to be one of the provincial finalists, expressed her surprise upon hearing her name among the five selected. Despite feeling good about the exam, she believed the competition level was very high.
Her interest in mathematics dates back several years, and she is inspired by her brother, a graduate in Mathematics and Physics. The Olympiad test did not focus solely on calculations but on logic and problem-solving, which motivated her to review the booklet with her brother to compare answers.
“"I knew I had done well, but I thought the level would be very high."
The awards ceremony brought together the top 30 qualifiers from the province. The young student was accompanied by her father, a friend, and her teacher. After a conference, the names of the five finalists who would advance to the regional phase were revealed.
The regional phase in Córdoba will include an individual test, a team test, and recreational activities such as a mathematical scavenger hunt. The young student is excited and determined to do her best, with her sights set on the national phase. Her family, especially her father, expresses great pride, highlighting her high abilities and responsibility, confirmed by a guidance team last year.
Academic talent seems to run in her family, as her older brother also excelled in the National Chemistry Olympiad. Although mathematics is her passion, the young student has expressed her desire to study Medicine, a vocation her father supports, despite his surprise at her choice.
From Bélmez de la Moraleda, in the heart of Sierra Mágina, the family is experiencing this moment with emotion, proud that a young person from a small town will represent Jaén in Andalucía. The experience in Córdoba is presented as an opportunity to enjoy and continue demonstrating the talent that emerges from the classrooms of rural towns.
