Organized by the Spanish Federation of Societies of Mathematics Teachers and the Andalusian Society of Mathematics Education Thales, through its Jaén delegation, these conferences will take place at the Lagunillas Campus of the University of Jaén. This year's theme, A Journey into the Heart of Mathematics, encourages reflection, innovation, and professional development for educators in a discipline crucial for critical and scientific thinking.
The scientific program is structured around seven thematic axes covering the full spectrum of teaching practices. These include 'Processes', addressing reasoning and problem-solving; 'Connections', analyzing the relationship between mathematics and other subjects; and 'Evaluation', exploring tools and the role of external assessments. Other axes are 'Classroom Resources', which will cover everything from manipulative materials to artificial intelligence; 'Teacher Training', focused on continuous professional development; 'Outreach', aimed at bringing mathematics closer to society; and 'Inclusion and Equality', with proposals for equitable mathematics education.
“"A Journey into the Heart of Mathematics, an invitation to reflect, innovate, and grow as educators in a discipline that is key to the development of critical and scientific thinking from the earliest educational stages."
In addition to plenary lectures and practical workshops, the event will foster participation through experience tables, presentations, and posters. The conferences will also feature a mathematics fair and art exhibitions related to numbers, highlighting the aesthetic and creative dimension of this science. Attendees will also enjoy a cultural agenda that will allow them to explore Jaén's historical heritage and olive grove culture, enriching the experience beyond the academic realm.
The deadline for submitting work proposals is April 30, and registration with a reduced fee is open until May 31. The University of Jaén and the Provincial Council support this congress, which positions the city at the center of the national debate on mathematics education and underscores its cultural and educational dynamism.
