The initiative, in collaboration with the City Council's Department of Environment and part of the Recrea en Verde program, offered participants practical training. Initially planned for San Juan square, the activity was adapted to weather conditions to ensure its execution.
During the workshop, attendees learned how to assemble planters and received information on different types of substrates and their characteristics. Efficient irrigation techniques and general plant maintenance in pots were also covered, crucial aspects for sustainable urban gardening that respects water consumption.
One of the most engaging moments was the section dedicated to plant propagation, where methods such as cuttings and division were practiced. This activity allowed participants to take home not only the knowledge acquired but also the plants they worked with.
“"These types of activities are fundamental for raising awareness in society about respect for the environment, biodiversity conservation, and the fight against climate change."
The presence of a municipal representative at the workshop highlighted the importance that the Jaén City Council places on environmental education as a pillar for building a more sustainable city committed to its natural surroundings.
