At this well-known spot on Calle Fuente de La Salud, patrons can enjoy dishes like the Barcelona Club de Fútbol, a burger with egg and fries, or the Atlético de Bilbao, which includes homemade croquettes. Content creator Niño Safaera visited the venue and highlighted the originality of the names, such as the 'papas a lo pobre' dedicated to Real Jaén.
For lighter options, the menu offers tapas like the Butragueño, a combination of bread with ham and quail egg, or the Maradona, described as an Argentinian tapa with a homemade burger that stands out for its flavor. The gastronomic influencer, originally from Granada, praised the sweetbreads tapa, recalling traditional preparations, and the roasted potato, typical of Granada.
Mesón el Futbolista also serves dishes such as tripe with a remarkable sauce and the traditional Iberian pork loin flamenquín, which Niño Safaera described as 'generously filled with cheese,' calling the pork loin 'the captain of the dish'.
The experience concluded with a tasting of seasonal snails, which the influencer referred to as 'the green tea of Andalusians,' and a homemade dessert: a cheesecake with Oreo mousse, made with an Oreo base, chocolate syrup, and Oreo cream filling, which was not overly sweet.
In addition to these creations, the establishment maintains classic Jaén tapas, such as the Caballito (grilled loin) and the Recluta (anchovies, tomato, and pepper), solidifying its status as a culinary destination with nearly forty years of history in the Las Fuentezuelas neighborhood.
